Botulinum toxin injections

Botulinum toxin injections

botoxIntroduction:
This is a natural purified protein that relaxes the muscles causing wrinkle causing muscles, creating a rejuvenated appearance.

Action:
This protein relaxes the muscles of facial expression thus smoothening the lines and also preventing new lines from being formed. Wrinkles are formed when we use our muscles to make expressions. When we are young our skin springs back to its initial position after facial expression but as we get older lines which appeared only when we smile or frown remain on the skin even at rest. This is due to loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid which are the structural proteins of the skin this along with sunlight, smoking and stress all contribute to creation of wrinkles and folds.

This is a non surgical treatment where a small amount of protein is used to relax the muscles by the doctor and usually takes 10-15 minutes; discomfort is typically minimal and brief. Normal activities can be resumed soon after.

The effect can last upto 6 months before lines slowly begin to return. On repeated injections the effect lasts longer. It does not cause more wrinkles to appear as it relaxes muscles. In case you choose not to have further injections your muscles will eventually come back to pre-treatment levels.

It takes upto 7-14 days to appreciate the full results.

It can be combined with other cosmetic procedures like fillers, threads, vampire facials.

Side effects :
Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning/stinging, bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids, skin tightness, itching, aching, headache, nausea, flu like symptoms.

Thread lift

Thread lift

thread lift

Introduction:
A thread facelift is a safe, convenient alternative to traditional facelift surgery. Designed to be less invasive, it can reduce sagging around the cheeks, jawline, and neck more quickly and with less risk than the conventional approach. Special threads are used during this facelift to discreetly hold repositioned skin and facial tissue in place after surgery. And while thread lifts generally produce noticeable results almost immediately and with less risk and inconvenience than more intensive procedure.

Methodology:
Threads used are made of clear polypropylene, the threads are nonabsorbable and are guided along previously designated contour lines, improving precision. Inserted through small incisions made above the hairline, the barb-covered threads tighten and lift sagging skin for a more youthful-looking appearance.

Indications:
The best candidates for a thread facelift are in their 30s to 60s and have relatively good skin tone. Most are beginning to experience sagging in their face or neck but do not have excessively loose skin or drooping facial areas that might require more rigorous facelift surgery.

Post procedure:
Redness and swelling can be experienced. Avoid massages and parlor activities for 7 days post procedure.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

chemical peels acne

Introcution:
A chemical peel is a body treatment technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off.
The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Thus the term chemical peel is derived. There are several types of chemical peels

Alpha hydroxy acid peels:
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are naturally occurring carboxylic acids such as glycolic acid, a natural constituent of sugar cane juice and lactic acid, found in sour milk and tomato juice. This is the mildest of the peel formulas and produces light peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne.  AHA peels may cause stinging, skin redness, mild skin irritation, and dryness.

Beta hydroxy acid peels:
It is becoming common for beta hydroxy acid (BHA) peels to be used instead of the stronger alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels due to BHA’s ability to get deeper into the pore than AHA.
Studies show that BHA peels control sebum excretion, acne as well as remove dead skin cells. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid. They are commonly use to treat

Retinoic acid peel (Yellow peel):
Retinoic acid is a retinoid. This is a deeper peel than the beta hydroxy acid peel and is used to remove scars as well as wrinkles and pigmentation problems.
The client leaves with the chemical peel solution on their face.
The peeling process takes place on the third day.
More dramatic changes to the skin require multiple peels over time.

Laser Hair removal

Laser Hair removal

Laser-Hair-Removal

Introduction:
A solution for unwanted hair for both men and women

Methodology:
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure. lasers work on the color of the hair and on its thickness.. People with very light or white hair benefit less or little from laser hair removal.
A number of factors affect the success of the treatment – hair thickness, the area treated and your hair growth cycle.
Interestingly, not all your hair is growing actively at the same time, and hair actually goes through three distinct phases – growth, regression, and resting.

The laser works by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
About 10-25% reduction in hair growth can be expected with each treatment.
The hair that grows following the treatment tends to be lighter and finer in texture.
About 6-8 treatments are generally required with ongoing maintenance in some people.

Immediately following the treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after the treatment, you may experience what seems to be regrown hair.
The hair is actually just being shed as a result of your treatment and is not really regrowing.
Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave the area.

Results:
You should see a reduction in the density and thickness of the hair in the treated area.
After you have completed your treatment plan, long-term hair reduction could be achieved.
With hair removal as with any treatment, there are people that fall in the grey zone.
For example, people with hormonal problems, light hair growth, white hair or those who have experienced previously failed laser treatments need to be evaluated and the reason for laser failure needs to be investigated
